Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is to stand trial accused of tax evasion relating to his time as manager of Portsmouth Football Club.

The 64-year-old has been charged, along with former Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric, with two counts of cheating the public revenue.

Two payments of around £183,000 were allegedly made by Mandaric, now chairman of Sheffield Wednesday, to the Spurs boss.

Redknapp has had two spells in charge at Fratton Park, the first of which was between 2002 and 2004 before he returned for a three-year spell in 2005.

The trial, which will be held at Southwark Crown Court, has been scheduled for Monday, January 23, 2012.

It is expected to last for around 14 days.
