Olivier Giroud: 'Arsenal do not need new striker'

Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud insists that the Gunners do not need to add a new striker in January.

Olivier Giroud has insisted that Arsenal do not need to buy a new forward in the January transfer window in order to compete for the Premier League title this season.

The Frenchman has netted 11 times in all competitions this season, but it is widely believed that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will look to bring in another striker in the winter window.

Giroud, however, believes that he, alongside Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski, can carry the burden in attack in the second part of the campaign.

He told Canal+: "If the coach wants me to rest, he can do it without buying a new striker.

"Lukas Podolski is having a good comeback. Theo Walcott can play as a striker. We have the quality and the quantity. I would rather not see a new striker come in."

Arsenal currently top the table with 42 points.
