Roy Hodgson happy with West Bromwich Albion effort

West Brom boss Roy Hodgson is pleased with his players' work rate, despite losing 3-0 to Arsenal.

West Bromwich Albion manager Roy Hodgson was left happy with his players' effort, despite their 3-0 defeat at Arsenal.

Goals from Robin van Persie, Thomas Vermaelen and Mikel Arteta gave the Gunners the win against an injury-ravaged Baggies side.

"You could accuse us of lacking a bit of quality at times, maybe in the first half playing the ball forward too early, but the one thing I certainly will not agree with was that the players didn't put in a shift," Hodgson told Sky Sports News.

"We've got injuries, a lot of changes in the team, so it was interesting for me today to see how players coped.

"I thought the shape of our team was actually quite good and if we were undone it was by quality."

The defeat has left Albion 13th in the Premier League table.
