Adam Lallana 'not surprised' by impressive Calum Chambers form

Adam Lallana says that he is 'not surprised' by how quickly former Southampton teammate Calum Chambers has settled into life at Arsenal.

Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has claimed that it was only a "matter of time" before Calum Chambers was snapped up by a major club in the Premier League.

The duo played alongside one another at Southampton before Lallana sealed a move to Anfield and 19-year-old Chambers switched to Arsenal this summer.

Since his move to the Emirates, Chambers has been a regular feature in the Arsenal defence during Premier League and Champions League matches and Lallana is unsurprised by his flourishing career.

"I knew it was a matter of time before he possibly moved on or went to a big, big club," The Mirror quotes Lallana as saying. "It hasn't surprised me at all how quickly and how well he's started."

Chambers also earned his first start for England in last night's 5-0 victory over San Marino at Wembley.
