Arsene Wenger: '80 points could win Premier League title'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger suggests that this season's title could be won with just 80 points.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has suggested that 80 points could be enough to take the Premier League title this season.

With the midpoint of the campaign approaching, Leicester City are leading the way with 35 points from 16 games, while Wenger's charges sit two points back in second.

"It looks to be very tight," the Frenchman told the club's official website. "We have played 16 games and the top team is on 35 points, so it means that the Premier League could be decided at around 80 points.

"If you look at the results it looks as though the consistency will be the main priority in this league because every week you are surprised by the results. We have really established a good run so for us it's important to continue that."

Manchester United were the last team to take the championship with 80 points back in 2010-11, while Chelsea earned the title with 87 points last season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will face title rivals Manchester City in a crucial clash at the Emirates on Monday night.
