Arsene Wenger: 'I hope Jack Wilshere spends career at Arsenal'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that he hopes to see Jack Wilshere return to the Gunners after his season-long loan spell with Bournemouth.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that he wants to see Jack Wilshere end his career with the Gunners, despite acknowledging that he may have struggled for first-team action this season.

On the final day of the transfer window, Wilshere completed a season-long loan move to Bournemouth as he bids for frequent game-time in the Premier League.

However, while Wenger has conceded it was logical to allow the 24-year-old some time away from the Emirates Stadium, he insists that he wants to see the midfielder spend the remainder of his career in North London.

The Frenchman told reporters: "We had a chat and he himself was concerned he would not get enough competition. I couldn't guarantee that and it looked logical to give him time - the challenge is to play the games.

"I hope personally that he stays his whole career here. He is a world-class player, doesn't have to show me his quality."

Wilshere is in contention to make his Bournemouth debut against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon.
