Arsene Wenger has reportedly been told that his job as Arsenal manager is safe.

Arsene Wenger has reportedly been told that his job as Arsenal manager is safe, even if the North London club fail to finish in the top four this season.

Wenger admitted this week that he would consider his position at the club at the end of the season.

The Gunners hierarchy have assured the Frenchman that they want him to remain at the club until his contract expires in 2014, according to The Mirror.

Wenger has since moved to distance himself from the comments he made about his future to French publication L'Equipe.

"I am completely committed to the club and I will show you that at the end of the season," Wenger said.

"It was a little sentence which says I have two more years to go and I will stay and that is it.

"We have some way to go to show that this is the right way. That's why what I wanted to say was 'we will see at the end of the season how far we can go'.

"I speak for me. The club could decide to get rid of me tomorrow morning but I cannot interfere with that decision."

Arsenal are currently seventh in the Premier League with 22 points from 12 games.
