Arsenal's Arsene Wenger calls on fans to rally behind the team

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger calls on the club's fans to get behind the team following their disappointment in the Champions League.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has urged the club's supporters to get behind the team following their mid-week Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.

The Gunners are unlikely to reach the quarter-finals of the elite European competition due to their 3-1 deficit from the first leg at the Emirates.

"The crowd will play a big part, especially after Tuesday night," Wenger said in a press conference. "We must get them behind us. We live in a world of emotion, of excess. We must put things into perspective and stay solid.

"We must stay united and not be destabilised by people with strong opinions. We are here to win games and when you don't it is a huge disappointment. We have to get over that and focus on the next."

Arsenal will go head to head with Aston Villa in the Premier League this week.
