Arsene Wenger: 'We are ready to win trophies'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that his side will be ready to challenge for silverware next season after a strong end to the current campaign.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his belief that his side are ready to challenge for honours next season.

The Gunners have not won any silverware since their 2005 FA Cup success, with the club seemingly more focused on securing a top-four finish in the Premier League each season.

However, Wenger believes that their form over the last few months, which saw them pick up 26 points from a possible 30, shows that they are ready to challenge for trophies again.

"I believe that the last three months the team has shown we are ready [to challenge for honours] because we are consistent," Wenger told the club's official website.

"The strengths we have built and the way the team has grown can be transferred into next season.

"That is very positive so let's keep the group together, rest well and come back in a strong way."

Arsenal beat North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the final Champions League qualifying spot on the last day of the season courtesy of a 1-0 win over Newcastle United.
