Arsene Wenger: 'Jack Wilshere answered his critics'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger feels that Jack Wilshere answered his critics with his performance in his side's 2-2 draw against Manchester City.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that midfielder Jack Wilshere went a long way to silencing his critics with his performance against Manchester City.

The England international was instrumental in the Gunners' second-half comeback as he scored the equaliser with a neat chip over Three Lions teammate Joe Hart.

Wilshere also played a crucial role in Alexis Sanchez's goal, although Wenger's side were unable to hold on to claim all three points as the match ended 2-2.

Wenger told the club's official website: "When you have his talent, the most important thing is to go on the pitch every week and show how good you are.

"He looked dangerous in the first half as well because he has found his pace back. That for a while was not the case so I'm very happy.

"I've always told him the best way to answer your critics is on the pitch and he did it."

Arsenal are currently seventh in the Premier League after four games of the season.
