Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere admits that his England recall may have been a bit "too soon" since he has only played three games following a 17-month layoff.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has conceded that his recall to the England team may have been a bit "too soon".

The 20-year-old has played just three games for the Gunners since recovering from an ankle and knee injury, which resulted in a 17-month layoff.

When asked by BBC Sport if he thought his Three Lions comeback was premature, he said: "Yeah maybe it is a bit too soon. I have only played three games.

"The last time I played was under Fabio Capello and now there is a new manager so I don't know the thinking of their new tactics. Would I fit in their plans?

"To know the manager has picked me and looking at me as part of the team is good for me. It is a new chapter in my footballing career. The last time I played was 17 months ago under Capello."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he has made a "good compromise" with England boss Roy Hodgson regarding Wilshere's game time against Sweden next week.
