AC Milan are reportedly well placed to secure a deal for Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio during the summer transfer window.
The 26-year-old is now only regarded as a bit-part player at the Santiago Bernabeu with 16 of his 33 appearances in La Liga and the Champions League this season coming from the substitutes' bench.
At a time when the Spain international has just over 14 months remaining on his contract, it has left all parties to contemplate the next phase of the player's career.
According to Calciomercato, Milan are the clear favourites to get a deal over the line having already held encouraging discussions with his representatives.
Although it is suggested that the wage demands of Asensio's team were above what Milan had initially hoped to pay, a positive resolution is expected between the relevant parties with Asensio said to be keen on the move.
Despite Arsenal said to hold a strong interest in the player, Asensio may seemingly be prepared to accept lower terms at San Siro to seal a transfer to Serie A.
