Arsenal are reportedly considering handing over Olivier Giroud to Inter Milan in the hope of signing Mauro Icardi.
The 23-year-old forward has been linked with the Gunners for some time, but Napoli are also thought to have expressed an interest.
Inter are determined to keep hold of their captain, but according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian club are re-thinking their stance after Arsenal offered £29m plus Giroud.
Arsene Wenger has been pursuing strikers this summer and Icardi is believed to have moved to the top of the list after the club failed to sign Jamie Vardy from Leicester City.
Giroud will not play in Arsenal's opening Premier League game against Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday as he is not yet fit following an extended break after Euro 2016.
