Atletico Madrid 'unaware of Arsenal bid for Thomas Partey'

Arsenal have not informed Atletico Madrid of their intention to buy out Thomas Partey's contract, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly yet to be informed about Arsenal's intention to trigger midfielder Thomas Partey's release clause.

The Gunners are said to have finally bowed to Atleti's demands by agreeing to pay the full £45m that the Spanish side are after.

However, with Monday evening's transfer deadline drawing nearer, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has cast doubt over a transfer going through.

According to Balague, Atleti know nothing about Arsenal's £45m offer, despite being in regular contact with the Londoners over a separate deal for Lucas Torreira.

Arsenal technically do not have to go through Los Rojiblancos as La Liga deal with transfers that involve a player's contract being bought out.

Atletico were expecting an update from Arsenal as a courtesy, Balague suggests, with that deal remaining in the balance ahead of the 11pm cut-off point.
