Four Azerbaijani clubs want to sign Arsenal's Andrey Arshavin, according to a spokesman from one of the teams.

A spokesman from Khazar Lankaran has claimed that his club are among four from Azerbaijan that are eager to sign Arsenal attacker Andrey Arshavin this summer.

The 31-year-old has been widely tipped to leave the Emirates Stadium at the end of the current campaign, mainly because his contract is due to expire and no agreement over an extension has been reached.

Should he become a free agent, Yalchin Aliyev has insisted that Lankaran, who are coached by former Liverpool striker John Toshack, would be extremely interested in securing the Russian's signature.

"At the moment there are only four teams in Azerbaijan who could be ready to pay for such a player as Andrey," Aliyev told Izvestia.ru. "Apart from Khazar it's Quabala, Neftci and Baki.

"We have a new coach - the popular John Toshack. At the moment he has to check the squad and decide in which positions he should strengthen the team."

Arshavin joined the Gunners from Zenit St Petersburg in 2009.
