Kevin Campbell: 'Arsene Wenger must buy in January'

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes that Arsene Wenger must buy the players that he needs in January if he is to turn the club into winners again.

Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes that Arsene Wenger must buy the players that he needs in January if he is to turn the club into a force again.

The Gunners boss is under pressure from some sections of the club's support following a recent run of poor form, which culminated in Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Stoke City.

Campbell believes that while Wenger will come through this latest test, the Frenchman must address the weaknesses in his squad, particularly in defensive areas.

"Wenger can overcome this but the fans are frustrated," he told talkSPORT.

"Season after season after season everyone can see what the problem is but it doesn't get addressed. And going to the likes of Stoke and not showing up until you're 3-0 down is unacceptable.

"If Wenger is serious [about getting back to the top] he will go out and get who he needs in January. No messing around, go and get them, because Arsenal need them. They've needed it for years and it's showing up [in their results], so go out and get them."

Arsenal are currently sixth in the Premier League table, 13 points behind leaders Chelsea.
