Joel Campbell makes Sporting Lisbon loan switch

Arsenal's Joel Campbell agrees to join Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan - his fifth spell away from the Emirates Stadium since joining in 2011.

Arsenal have sent forward Joel Campbell on loan to Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old made 30 appearances for the Gunners last season in all competitions but could only muster four goals.

Campbell, who joined the North London club from Saprissa in 2011, has previously spent time on loan at Lorient, Real Betis, Olympiacos and Villarreal.

An agreement between Arsenal and Sporting was reached earlier this weekend, and the Costa Rica international is now eligible to feature for his new side.

Sporting finished last term in second place in the Portuguese top flight and will therefore compete in this season's Champions League.
