Report: Calum Chambers heading to Southampton

Young Arsenal defender John Stones will reportedly join his former side Southampton on a loan deal in January.

Calum Chambers will reportedly move to Southampton on a loan deal until the end of the season when the transfer window reopens next month.

According to The Sun, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to send the 20-year-old back to his former club in order to gain more first-team experience.

The England star, who joined the Gunners in 2014, has featured in just six league games this season having fallen behind the likes of Hector Bellerin and Mathieu Debuchy in the pecking order.

The newspaper says that the Saints will look to extend the six-month deal to cover the 2016-17 season should the initial stint prove successful.

Chambers is also thought to be of interest to Everton as a potential replacement for Chelsea target John Stones.
