Tottenham want to sign Manchester City's Emmanuel Adebayor on a season-long loan deal.
The striker, who is out of favour at City, is keen to leave after being frozen out by manager Roberto Mancini.
"I feel I've been let down and disrespected," said Adebayor.
The Togolese international spent much of last season on loan at La Liga side Real Madrid, where he scored five goals in 14 appearances.
Manchester City have agreed to pay part of Adebayor's £110,000 a week wages as part of the loan deal with Spurs.
Tottenham are keen to strengthen their options in attack after Robbie Keane was linked with a move to Los Angeles Galaxy and Peter Crouch is wanted by Stoke.
Adebayor has previously played for Tottenham's North London rivals Arsenal, where he scored 46 goals during his spell from 2006 to 2009.
