Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen in the dark over Barcelona rumours

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen insists that he has not heard about any interest from Barcelona.

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has attempted to distance himself away from reports linking him with a move to Barcelona.

The 27-year-old, who is currently with the Belgium national team, has had an inconsistent season with the Gunners due to injuries and poor form, which has prompted exit rumours.

"I don't want to go too much into my situation as I am with the national team," Vermaelen told Sky Sports News.

"Of course I want to play every game. But you are playing for a big club so you know this sort of thing can happen.

"It has happened before and I am not worried too much. I am working hard every day to do well. There is nothing I have heard [from Barcelona] so I can't say anything about that."

The centre-back has been with the Gunners since 2009.
