Arsene Wenger: 'Joel Campbell will return to Arsenal'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirms that Costa Rica striker Joel Campbell will be part of his pre-season plans after the World Cup.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Joel Campbell will be part of his pre-season plans after the World Cup has finished.

The Costa Rica international was signed from Saprissa in 2011, but he has been loaned out to Lorient, Real Betis and Olympiacos in recent seasons due to work permit issues.

When asked about Campbell's future with the Gunners, Wenger told the Daily Mail: "He will definitely come back to us for pre-season. He is maturing well."

Campbell scored for Costa Rica on Saturday as they began their World Cup Group D campaign with a 3-1 victory over Uruguay.
