Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly eye a move for striker Diego Costa, who recently terminated his contract with Atletico Madrid.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly lining up a swoop for former Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

The 32-year-old's contract at Atletico Madrid was recently terminated with immediate effect and he is a free agent heading into the January transfer window.

Arsenal have already been credited with an interest for Costa, who scored 58 goals and won two Premier League titles during his three-and-a-half year stint at Chelsea.

Now, The Sun claims that Wolves are also weighing up a move for the Spain international following Raul Jimenez's injury, with Nuno Espirito Santo understood to be in the market for a new striker in January.

However, the report adds that Costa would have to take a significant hit on his £270k-a-week wages, and given his history of controversial incidents, Santo is concerned that signing the former Atletico man could impact the harmony of the dressing room.

With Jimenez sidelined for the foreseeable future, Wolves have also been tipped to swoop for another ex-Premier League striker in Salomon Rondon, who currently plies his trade in the Chinese Super League with Dalian Professional.
