Darren Bent leaves DW Stadium on crutches

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent leaves the DW Stadium on crutches, sparking rumours that he will miss England's friendly with Holland.

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent has left the DW Stadium on crutches and with his foot in a protective cast.

The 28-year-old was stretchered off following a collision with Wigan Athletic defender Antolin Alcaraz.

It appeared that the centre-forward was suffering with a problem in his left ankle.

The injury could now rule Bent out of England's friendly encounter with Holland next week.

Villa were held to a 0-0 draw by Wigan this afternoon.
