Both Wigan Athletic and Aston Villa failed to find the net at the DW Stadium this afternoon.
Visiting Villa created the first chance of the match in the 12th minute. Robbie Keane threaded a pass through to striker partner Darren Bent, but the England international was unable to guide his effort past Ali Al Habsi in the Wigan goal.
Franco Di Santo forced Villa goalkeeper Shay Given into action with 30 minutes played, while Antolin Alcaraz headed over Jordi Gomez's cross from close range as Wigan ended the half the stronger of the two teams.
Di Santo had two chances in quick succession shortly after the restart, but on both occasions his low efforts were blocked by James Collins and Gary Gardner.
Bent's afternoon was cut short when he was forced to leave the pitch on a stretcher following a collision with Alcaraz. The striker appeared to be suffering with an ankle injury and now could be a doubt of England's friendly against Holland next week.
Di Santo had the final chance of the game, but Given got down to turn his low shot past the post in stoppage time.
The point wasn't enough to lift Wigan off the bottom of the Premier League table.
