Paul Lambert: 'Portugal trip will help players'

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert insists that his players will train every day next week when they travel to Portugal.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has insisted that his players will train every day when they travel to Portugal next week.

The Villans, who drew 0-0 at Cardiff City on Tuesday, return to Premier League action on February 23.

Despite fears that the squad is going away to relax, Lambert is adamant that the trip will not be treated as a holiday.

"They'll train every day," the Scot told the Birmingham Mail. "They're going over there to work really. It's just a normal week.

"The important thing is we haven't a game on Saturday. I've done it before with teams and it's good. Most teams who are knocked out of [the FA Cup] will probably look to go away and we're not any different."

Villa have not won any of their last three matches in the Premier League.
