Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish rubbishes rumours that Darren Bent will leave the club in January.

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has rejected rumours that the club are ready to sell striker Darren Bent in January.

The England international only joined Villa from Sunderland 10 months ago and McLeish has been quick to rubbish speculation that he is restless at Villa Park and looking for an exit in the new year.

"It's utter nonsense, rubbish," he told the Birmingham Evening Mail.

"It's a phenomenon of the modern world, Twitter and Facebook, and it's not my world. I think you can get any story in there."

Bent scored twice as Villa beat Norwich 3-2 at Villa Park.
