Atalanta too strong for Torino

Stefano Lucchini's late header makes sure that Atalanta take maximum points from their first home match of the Serie A campaign, edging Torino 2-0.

Atalanta BC have recorded their first win of the new Serie A campaign tonight, easing past Torino with two goals in the second half at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.

A frantic opening half saw both sides spurn strong opportunities to take the lead, with German Denis most culpable as he tested Daniele Padelli with a fierce drive.

Early in the second half Atalanta made a concerted spell of pressure count to take the lead through Guglielmo Stendardo, who bagged his second goal in as many games from close range.

Torini pushed for an equaliser late on but were undone nine minutes from time as Stefano Lucchini put the result beyond doubt, aiming a measured header just inside the far post to secure all three points for the hosts.
