Atletico Madrid attacker Saul Niguez has admitted that it was "very painful" to lose out to Real Madrid in the 2016 Champions League final.
Yannick Ferreira Carrasco cancelled out a Sergio Ramos effort to force extra time and ultimately penalties, where Real Madrid triumphed 5-3 to land an 11th European Cup.
Atletico also lost out to Real Madrid in the 2014 final, and Saul has conceded that the defeat was tough to take.
"It's very painful. This team don't deserve this to happen twice. Once is hard enough, but to suffer twice...," he told beIN Sports. "It was a match with a lot of intensity, and we were all dead [by the end of it].
"Next season, we'll try to go for the Champions League, La Liga and everything else, but always while going game by game. We're going to fight for [the Champions League] until we get it."
Juanfran missed Atletico's only penalty in the shootout, but Real Madrid scored all five to triumph.
