Half-Time Report: Atletico Madrid lead Eibar at interval

Goals from Miranda and Mario Mandzukic give Atletico Madrid a 2-1 lead over Eibar at half time in their La Liga clash at the Vicente Calderon.

Atletico Madrid are on course for their first three points of the La Liga season having taken a 2-1 lead over Eibar into half time.

The hosts opened up their account for the campaign with 11 minutes on the clock courtesy of Miranda, who made the most of some lacklustre defending to head home Koke's corner.

Mario Mandzukic doubled Atletico's lead on 26 minutes with a header of his own, with Gabi the provider on this occasion as his free kick was converted into the far corner of the net.

It was almost curtains for Eibar shortly after when Antoine Griezmann fired a shot away at goal, but his attempt ended narrowly wide of the target.

Ten minutes before the interval, however, the newly-promoted side were right back in it thanks to Abraham's curled effort into the top corner from outside the box.

Atletico looked to extend their lead once more before the end of the half, but Xabi Iruretagoiena managed to keep out Raul Garcia's effort.
