Atletico Madrid smash Rayo Vallecano

Atletico Madrid thump Rayo Vallecano 5-0 to maintain their winning start to the league campaign.

Atletico Madrid have trounced Rayo Vallecano at the Vicente Calderon to make it two wins out of two in La Liga.

Los Colchoneros added heartily to their goal difference as Diego Costa, Arda Turan, Tiago and two from Raul Garcia sealed a 5-0 win, which puts them top of the table ahead of Barcelona's trip to Malaga later this evening.

Diego Simeone's men took the lead in the 17th minute when Garcia met Turan's corner, and three minutes later the home fans were on their feet once again, as this time Costa profited from the wizardry of the Turkish attacker.

The Brazilian returned the favour in the 35th minute as Turan himself got in on the act by rounding David Cobeno to slip into an empty net.

A Tiago header made it four in the 53rd minute, before Garcia completed the scoring in the dying stages.
