Result: Atletico Madrid 3-1 Real Zaragoza

Atletico Madrid enter the top half of the La Liga table with a 3-1 win at home to Real Zaragoza.

Atletico Madrid have moved into the top half of the La Liga table with a 3-1 win at home to Real Zaragoza.

Adrian gave the home side the lead after 18 minutes when his powerful header from Arda Turan's cross found the net.

Their lead was doubled on 30 minutes when Alvaro Dominguez was on hand to head home after Diego Godín Leal had headed the ball back across goal.

The visitors almost pulled a goal back instantly, but Helder Postiga's shot was pushed around the post by Thibaut Courtois.

In a second-half of few opportunities, Luis Garcia came close for Zaragoza, but his free kick flew narrowly over the bar.

Adrian got his second of the evening on 74 minutes when his firm sidefooted shot went in off the crossbar to make it 3-0.

The away side were rewarded for their efforts on 78 minutes after Postiga guided his header from a corner down into the net.

While Atletico climb up into ninth place, Zaragoza remain in 15th.
