Belgium boss Roberto Martinez insists that he has not been in any discussions with Barcelona over the managerial role at Camp Nou.

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez has insisted that he has not been in any discussions with Barcelona over the possibility of becoming the Catalan outfit's new head coach.

Ronald Koeman's position as manager of Barcelona is far from secure, and Martinez has allegedly been identified as a possible replacement for the Dutchman.

However, the 48-year-old has said that there is nothing in the rumours linking him with the job at Camp Nou.

"As you can imagine, there is nothing, really nothing, for me to comment on," Martinez told Eurosport.fr. "Obviously, there are always rumours, they are always there. This is normal in football.

"When you lose three matches, rumours say you are going to lose your job. When things are going well, when you have good results, there are also rumours. But there is nothing for me to comment on at this time."

Martinez, who started his managerial career at Swansea City in 2007, has been in charge of Belgium since 2016 and led the nation to third place at the 2018 World Cup.

The Spaniard has not managed at club level since 2016, when he left Everton after three years.
