Former Barcelona defender Ronald Koeman believes that Pep Guardiola's Blaugrana side were the best team of all time.

Koeman was part of the Barca team that won the European Cup in 1992, but the Dutchman has claimed that "Guardiola's Barca played the most complete football" he has ever seen.

"Guardiola's Barca was an improvement on our dream team," Koeman told Marca. "Pep's Barca consistently maintained their level of excellence.

"They always played well. We had very good games as well but had our highs and lows. Pep's team always played well. I have to admit that Guardiola's Barca played the most complete football I've ever seen.

"Much of the credit has to go to two or three players, [Lionel] Messi being the first. If you have Messi, [Andres] Iniesta and Xavi ... Messi decides a lot of matches by himself, like Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid."

Barcelona have been criticised for a perceived change of playing style under Gerardo Martino this season.
