Al Sadd manager Xavi agrees to become Barcelona's new head coach, according to a report.

Xavi has reportedly agreed to become Barcelona's new head coach, although the move cannot be confirmed until the Catalan outfit have negotiated his release from Al Sadd.

Barcelona took the decision to sack Ronald Koeman as manager on Wednesday night, with the 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano proving to be the Dutchman's final match at the helm.

Sergi Barjuan, who is currently in charge of Barcelona B, has been placed in charge on an interim basis while the club finalise the appointment of a long-term manager.

According to Sport, Xavi has always been the number one target at Camp Nou, and the club's former midfielder has now agreed to take on the role.

The report claims that Barcelona are in talks with Al Sadd over the 41-year-old's release, with Barcelona allegedly needing to pay a fee in the region of £850,000.

The La Liga outfit are said to be hopeful of making an announcement 'in the coming hours'.

Xavi made 767 appearances for Barcelona between 1998 and 2015 before moving to Al Sadd, where he played for four seasons before taking over as head coach.
