Lille defender Mathieu Debuchy reveals that he is unlikely to leave the club during the upcoming January transfer window.

French international Mathieu Debuchy does not expect to leave Lille during the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old was linked with a host of clubs during the summer, including Premier League side Newcastle United and Barcelona.

As no move materialised, reports had claimed that potential suitors may opt to return next month with another offer.

However, the full-back does not see himself switching clubs during the middle of the Ligue 1 season.

"I didn't think about that period so far, but I can't see me leaving a team in the middle of the season," he told reporters. "I don't like that winter transfer market. However, you never know what can happen in football.

"I prefer to not think about it. I met my officials last summer, and there were things I appreciated and others I did not."

Debuchy has spent his entire professional career with Lille.
