Paris Saint-Germain are confident of winning the race to sign Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt, according to a report.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly becoming increasingly confident of securing the signature of Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt in this summer's transfer window.

Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester United, Liverpool and PSG have all been strongly linked with moves for the 19-year-old since the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

Barca and PSG have seemingly now emerged as the two favourites, though, and it has recently been claimed that the former are preparing to re-open contract talks with the defender's agent Mino Raiola in a bid to complete a deal.

However, according to The Independent, the fact that PSG are offering the biggest financial package has led the French champions to believe that they will sign the Netherlands international this summer.

De Ligt, who led Ajax to a league and cup double during the 2018-19 campaign, could command a transfer fee of £80m.
