Thiago Silva says that Barcelona were interested in signing him before he moved to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva has revealed that he almost joined Barcelona last summer.

The Brazilian left AC Milan, along with teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, to join the French giants in a big-money move at the start of the season.

However, the 28-year-old admits that he was tempted to join the Catalan club.

"Last summer Barca had contact with my agent, it is the club where every player wants to play one day. As a kid I dreamt too, but it never materialised," Silva told L'Equipe.

"When Barcelona came last summer I was already in talks with PSG. I had even given my word to Leonardo that if I would leave Milan, it would be to sign at Paris."

PSG and Barcelona drew 2-2 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final encounter on Tuesday.
