Report: Barnsley to speak to St Mirren boss Jack Ross about vacant role

Barnsley are reportedly plan to speak to St Mirren boss Jack Ross over the Championship club's vacant managerial role following Paul Heckingbottom's departure.

Barnsley have reportedly earmarked St Mirren boss Jack Ross as their primary candidate to succeed Paul Heckingbottom as manager.

The Tykes are currently on the lookout for a new individual to take the reins after Heckingbottom joined Leeds United last week.

Ross, meanwhile, has guided the Buddies to a 14-point lead at the top of the Scottish Championship table.

According to The Sun, St Mirren have reluctantly given Barnsley permission to speak to their manager, who took over in October 2016 with the club bottom of the Scottish second tier.

Ross spent a year at Hartlepool United during his playing career, which also took in spells at Clyde, Falkirk, St Mirren, Hamilton Academical and Dunfermline Athletic.
