Julien Palmieri inspires Bastia win over Guingamp

Julien Palmieri scores twice in Bastia's home victory over Guingamp, which maintains the Corsicans unbeaten start to the season.

Two goals before half time from Julian Palmieri have helped Bastia on their way to a comfortable victory over Guingamp.

After Yannick Cahuzac's initial attempt was blocked for the Corsicans, they took the lead inside five minutes as Sebastien Squillaci's cushioned header allowed Palmieri to rifle the ball past Jonas Lossl.

Moustapha Diallo was then denied the chance to equalise for EAG when his strike was stopped by Jesper Hansen soon after.

Mana Dembele and Yannis Salibur also went close for Guingamp in the early stages as the visitors plotted a route back into the game.

However, they fell further behind with half time approaching as Palmieri latched onto Floyd Ayite's cross before tucking the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Jimmy Briand squandered a chance on 63 minutes to pull a goal back for Guingamp when he blazed over from close range after good work from Nill de Pauw.

Instead, Bastia wrapped up victory in the final minute when Lassana Couibaly scored a third for the Corsicans.
