Bayer Leverkusen have boosted their chances of reaching the last 16 of the Champions League with a 2-1 win away to Group C rivals Zenit St Petersburg.
Following a lively opening to the match, the hosts almost made the breakthrough on 12 minutes when Hulk's free kick evaded everyone before coming back off the post.

The Russians came close again moments later, but Aleksandr Kerzhakov was denied by Bernd Leno after being sent through on goal by Danny's clever flick.
Kerzhakov was in the thick of the action again midway through the half when he fired inches wide of the post, while a rare opening for the visitors later on saw Stefan Kiessling's fierce drive kept out by Yuri Lodygin.
However, it was the Germans who took the lead with 67 minutes on the clock as Son Heung-min curled the ball into the net from 25 yards following a clever free-kick routine.
Son the doubled his team's advantage just six minutes later when he rode the challenge of Domenico Criscito before slotting in calmly.
Zenit reduced the deficit on 89 minutes when Jose Rondon steered the ball home from Andrey Arshavin's clipped pass over the top, but the Russians failed to grab an equaliser in stoppage time.
