Pep Guardiola "very happy" with Bayern Munich win over Benfica

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola declares himself "very happy" with his side's 1-0 win over Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has insisted that he is "very happy" with his side's 1-0 victory over Benfica at the Allianz Arena this evening.

Arturo Vidal scored after less than two minutes in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final, but the hosts were unable to add to that lead for the remainder of the match.

The result leaves Bayern with a slender lead to take into the second leg in Lisbon next week, but Guardiola was nonetheless pleased with the win.

"I'm very happy with the result because I know how good our opponents are. Credit to my team," the two-time Champions League winner told reporters.

"When you get to the Champions League quarter-finals, it's always the second leg that's key."

When asked whether 1-0 was a dangerous result, Guardiola added: "That depends on our performance in Lisbon. We will head there with the intention of winning."

Bayern are bidding to reach the semi-finals of the competition for the fifth season in a row.
