Half-Time Report: Jerome Boateng puts Bayern Munich ahead

Jerome Boateng smashes home the opener as Bayern Munich take an early lead in the Bavarian derby with Augsburg at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich are closing in on a record-breaking 37th Bundesliga match unbeaten after starting brightly against Augsburg to build a 2-0 lead at the interval, courtesy of early strikes from Jerome Boateng and Franck Ribery.

Boateng got things going five minutes in after staying forward from a corner kick and took full advantage of a flick from Dante at the near post, waiting for the ball to bounce before lashing home on the half-volley from a tight angle.

Pep Guardiola's men then proceeded to dominate possession in the Bavarian derby without creating any clear-cut chances, probing through Ribery and Mario Gotze.

Ribery fired from range soon after the opener following a mazy forward burst, with Augsburg restricted to looking for Andre Hahn with ling diagonal passes.

Just before the break Ribery was brought down just outside the penalty area to give the hosts a dangerous free kick, which the Frenchman drilled into the top corner to extend Bayern's advantage.
