Preview: Bayern Munich vs. Augsburg

Sports Mole's look ahead to Bayern Munich's attempt for a record 37th unbeaten game in the Bundesliga against Augsburg.

Bayern Munich head into this weekend's clash with Augsburg on the brink of Bundesliga history, as they look to set a new record of 37 games unbeaten in the German top flight.

Pep Guardiola's side have already equalled a Champions League record this week with a ninth successive victory in the competition at Viktoria Plzen, courtesy of a goal from substitute Mario Mandzukic.

The defending champions have emerged victorious in each of their five fixtures against Augsburg, but are yet to record three successive league wins despite topping the table by a single point from Borussia Dortmund.

Mandzukic is pushing for a return to the starting XI after his impact in midweek, in a match which saw Bayern play without a recognised striker.

Arjen Robben remains doubtful with a groin problem, while Dante and Jerome Boateng are both expected to return in central defence.

Augsburg travel to the Allianz Arena fresh from breaking a three-match losing streak with victory over Mainz 05 last weekend, but will be without Panagiotis Vlachodimos, Raul Bobadilla and Dominik Reinhardt through injury.
