Half-Time Report: Thomas Muller hands advantage to Bayern Munich

Thomas Muller scores from close range to hand Bayern Munich a 1-0 lead over Eintracht Frankfurt at the break.

Bayern Munich have taken a step towards extending their unbeaten run after Thomas Muller handed them a 1-0 half-time lead over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Frankfurt enjoyed a spell on top early in the match, but were restricted to speculative efforts by the visitors, with Alexander Meier firing over from the edge of the box.

A Xabi Alonso free kick should have produced the opening goal for Bayern when his delivery reached Thomas Muller, who found space in a congested penalty area before heading wide.

However, the World Cup winner would make up for his miss by giving his side the lead in the 23rd minute with a simple finish from close range after seeing his initial effort from Franck Ribery's blocked by Felix Wiedwald.

Wiedwald was forced into action to prevent the hosts from falling behind before the break as Dante watched the Frankfurt shot-stopper push his powerful header over the crossbar.
