Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness sensationally threatens to boycott the German national team if Manuel Neuer is dropped from the first team.

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has sensationally threatened that his club will boycott the German national team if Manuel Neuer is dropped from the first team.

The Bayern keeper has been engaged in a war of words recently with Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who has been frustrated at his lack of game time for the country.

With speculation increasing that Ter Stegen could get the nod for Germany's forthcoming internationals, Hoeness added his thoughts to the debate, telling Sport Bild that the former Borussia Monchengladbach stopper "doesn't have a right to play there".

The Bayern president also said that were Neuer to be replaced in the German team, Bayern would refuse to free up players for Joachim Low, thereby bringing the club into direct conflict with Low and the German national manager Oliver Bierhoff.

Low dropped Bayern stars Jerome Boateng, Thomas Muller and Mats Hummels in March of this year, but a boycott would seriously affect his plans for a rebuild following Germany's poor showing in the Nations League, with the national coach increasingly reliant on Serge Gnabry, Niklas Sule and Joshua Kimmich.
