Kevin De Bruyne: 'Fearless approach key to win over Bayern Munich'

Kevin De Bruyne claims that a fearless approach was key to Wolfsburg's 4-1 victory over Bayern Munich.

Kevin De Bruyne has claimed that Wolfsburg's fearless approach was the deciding factor in their 4-1 triumph over Bayern Munich.

In the first Bundesliga match of 2015, braces from De Bruyne and Bas Dost helped the hosts inflict a first defeat of the season on the champions, and the Belgian believes that Wolfsburg were rewarded for being positive.

"The key was being fearless and putting ourselves on the front foot. We did that really well," the midfielder told the official Bundesliga website.

"Bayern usually take a lot of risks and that normally works pretty well against most of the teams in the Bundesliga. For our fourth goal especially they left us a lot of room; their backline was even in our half so we couldn't be offside.

"You have to take risks against Bayern and that worked out well for us today. I'm proud of the team because every single player did a great job, especially in defence."

Wolfsburg are eight points behind Bayern at the top of the table.
