Pep Guardiola: 'I will stick to beliefs'

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola says that his players must continue to believe in his footballing methods.

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola has insisted that his philosophy can bring success to the club, despite the disappointing Champions League exit to Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

Guardiola, who took over the Bavarian side last summer, said that the best way out of the poor run of form will be to make sure that they stick to his principles of football.

"I have my own philosophy and we will use my philosophy against Hamburg, against Stuttgart, in the DFB-Pokal final and next year," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.

"I cannot be Bayern coach if I have to say things I don't agree with. That would be bad for the club and for the players, who are intelligent. They wouldn't trust me if I wasn't true to myself.

"I didn't come here to change German football culture any more than that of Bayern. But when I speak to my players on a daily basis I can't talk about ideas in which I don't believe."

Bayern won the treble last season under their previous coach Jupp Heynckes.
