Bayern Munich fire six past powerless SC Paderborn

Robert Lewandowski and Arjen Robben both score braces as Bayern Munich storm to a 6-0 win over SC Paderborn in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich made it 14 goals in their last two Bundesliga games by cruising to a 6-0 victory over SC Paderborn.

Paderborn looked bright in the early stages, but struggled to create clear opportunities at the end of extended spells of possession.

A clinical edge from Bayern made the difference as Robert Lewandowski timed his run well to collect Arjen Robben's chipped pass before slotting home on 24 minutes.

The Polish striker, who was returning to the starting lineup after being named on the bench against Shakhtar Donetsk in midweek, added his second by finding space in the six-yard box to convert from Franck Ribery's low cross.

Bayern were dominating heading into the break, and they came agonisingly close to extending their lead when Robben fired just wide from 25 yards.

Pep Guardiola's side continued to control the game in the second half, and Paderborn's hopes of an unlikely comeback were over when Florian Hartherz was shown a straight red card for bringing down Robben in the box.

The Dutch winger stepped up from 12 yards to fire home the penalty and pile the misery on the home fans.

Paderborn were unable to relieve the pressure, and the visitors breached their defence once again when a Juan Bernat cross eventually fell to Ribery, who made no mistake with a calm finish on the half-volley.

Mitchell Weiser was introduced from the bench and made an instant impact by scoring with a clever chipped finish as Bayern continued to torture the Paderborn defence.

There was still time for Bayern to add further gloss to the scoreline late on as Robben tapped home from Bastian Schweinsteiger's cross for his 11th goal in his last 11 games.
