Half-Time Report: Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Wigan Athletic

Blackburn are 45 minutes away from Premier League relegation after entering the break 0-0 with Wigan at Ewood Park.

Blackburn Rovers are just 45 minutes away from Premier League relegation after entering the break goalless with Wigan Athletic at Ewood Park.

Rovers need to win to have any chance of survival, while a point will all but secure Wigan's top-flight status.

The first real incident of the game didn't involve any of the 22 players, but instead a chicken that had been let loose on the pitch.

The bird's presence stopped play for around two minutes and when the action resumed, it was the Latics who pressed for an opener.

Franco Di Santo's tame effort was saved comfortably by Paul Robinson before Victor Moses called the former England keeper into action again at his near post.

The two players later combined to produce the best chance of the first period. Di Santo's perfect cross left Moses with a six-yard header to give Roberto Martinez's side the lead, but the Nigerian international completely miscued his effort across goal.

Anthony Modeste came closest to breaking the deadlock for the hosts, but his ambitious 30-yard volley went narrowly over the crossbar.
