According to Sky Sports News, former Nottingham Forest, Barnsley and Queens Park Rangers boss Hart has been speaking with the Lancashire club over the vacant manager's post.
He was most recently was a coach at Charlton Athletic, leaving his post as the Addicks' academy manager 10 days ago.
